The «Green Road» Cycle Path

The project promotes the construction of a bicycle and pedestrian path able to connect two important areas of the city of Catanzaro: the area of Li Comuni (located north east of the town and one of the most important naturalistic zones of the surrounding area) with that of Giovino (a green path along the coast consisting of a vast pine forest that extends for kilometers parallel to the beach, where services and equipment dedicated to sport and leisure are located) to promote sustainable urban mobility. The path to be traced will be 8 kilometers long.

This itinerary allows citizens and tourists to enjoy the beautiful landscape both of the hills, where the center of Catanzaro is located, and of the coast, where the marine area of Catanzaro is located. This project supports the objective of the city of connecting the historical center with the marine areas. Along the bicycle and pedestrian path, citizens and tourists can stop to discover naturalistic and environmental beauties of the city and of its surroundings. This route is intended for all cycling enthusiasts, even less experienced cyclists. The project will enhance tourism, and the promotion of environmental resources and of cultural heritage of the city, through the promotion of sustainable urban mobility by fostering the use of bicycles along the “Green road”.
