The IMM Open Data Portal was created as the first step to release the data collected by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), and its affiliate companies regarding the services of the IMM to the city of Istanbul.
The Open Data Portal provides access to data that IMM, IMM affiliate companies, and other public and private sector organizations own and share, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Protection of Personal Data (KVKK).
The data is provided to citizens free of charge. The IMM launched the Open Data Portal on January 18, 2020 by evaluating Open Data Portal examples, standards and approaches around the world. In the IMM Open Data Portal project, all the data of the city are shared with the citizen in an open format based on the principles of participation and transparency. The open data sets offered in the portal were shared with academics, researchers, entrepreneurs and citizens in many different categories.
Relevant challenges
